Floricanto Dance Institute
Now entering its eighth year, Danza Floricanto/USA continues its partnership with Sunrise Elementary School in Los Angeles Unified School District. Through this partnership Floricanto provides an instructor for Sunrise's Folklorico after school program for two hours a day, five days a week, throughout the regular school year, produce countless assemblies and two recitals-one holiday program and one end of the year performance-open to the public as part of this partnership. Each folklorico class consists of 30 to 40 students, grades three to six. In addition, we have now added an all boys folklorico class to encourage male participation in the art form and a pre-professional class for aspiring Floricanto candidates. This program is absolutely free to the students it serves, thanks in part to grants from the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and the California Arts Council.
